An Italian Valentine’s Day

Italy does celebrate Valentine’s Day!  There are heart-shaped chocolates, stuffed animals, and plenty of roses around!  With Nicholas’ and Thomas’ grandparents here in Italy, Maria and I had a chance to grab a great Valentine’s Day dinner.

One tradition that some crazy lovers have here in Florence is to place a small padlock on a bridge.  The locks have the couple’s name on it, and a message of everlasting love on it.  Their love is locked to the bridge forever!  See picture here:

The funny thing is that while their love may be everlasting, the locks aren’t.  The police come and cut them off eventually.  We even took a couple of the locks as souvenirs.  So Tommaso & Silvia and Ronda & Chrisoula – we’ll keep your locks forever…

Happy Valentine’s Day!
