A busy day in Florence

Our first real day in Florence was very busy.  We started with a workshop this morning at the American Institute for Foreign Study, followed by lunch, and then a two-hour walking tour of the city.  We got about an hour break at home, and then we were off again for a welcome dinner hosted by the AIFS staff.  Understand that we have to walk about twenty minutes to get to and from each of these events – so the day fills up fast!  And Alpe D’Huez awaits us on our return to our apartment.  We’ll be ready for a marathon when we get home!  (At least we’ll be able to walk one!)  A bunch of pictures from today follow here:
